David and Marilyn Eva, your hosts, and francophiles, were frequent visitors to Veules-les-Roses for over 10 years, where David held an exhibition of his own work every summer. In January 2010, they took the plunge, sold up in England and bought a house and adjoining building in the village. This former stable has now been converted to a gallery and studio and accommodates small groups for workshops and classes.

An architect by profession, David has had a lifelong interest in painting and established several private art courses in the UK. He was also a teacher for the West Sussex Adult Education service. His background in architecture has led to a profound experience in many aspects of drawing, painting and graphics, in a wide range of media. With a natural enthusiasm for teaching, David encourages all students, whatever their level, to pursue and develop their own individual interests during the courses and workshops.

Marilyn spent many years working in France, mostly with small businesses such as farmers and B&B owners who made links with cross-Channel colleagues to develop their marketing offer. Much of the project work involved the promotion of local produce and this has led to a passion for using the best of local ingredients in cooking. Coming from a family of cordon-bleu cooks, she looks forward to offering you the best of Normandy fare for the Salon de thé and cookery workshops.

As a student, we want you to benefit tremendously from your time with us, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, whilst achieving your personal goals and building confidence. Whatever those are, you can expect a warm welcome, together with the high degree of attention that comes with small-group tuition and a positive encouragement to try new ideas.
